CHANGE OF FORMAT
DECIDED TO CHANGE MY TEMPLATE AND GO WITH A DIFFERENT FORMAT THAT GAVE ME MORE SPACE FOR MY BLOGS. HOPE YOU LIKE THE NEW LOOK.
Surfs Up
Patrick has been going surfing with a mate (J) from school and using his board. We bought a surfboard for him yesterday off a mate of Dave's from work and he wanted to race straight out and try it. So we headed off to YMC? Beach (near Smith's Beach) {this is where Patrick had been going with J and his parent but we hadn't been before}.
The water was very cold even though it was a hot day. Dave and I only got our feet in to start off with. Nick stood about knee deep for ages. We went up and sat on the sand and watched Pat and J. Nick eventually got in and after a while Patrick let him have a go and then J let him have a go on his board. The funniest thing that we didn't get on film was when Dave and I were sitting and talking and a wave came out of no where and rolled up the beach towards us and we only just started picking up our stuff off the mat (camera, mobile phone, clothes, towels, shoes, water bottle, chocies) as it reached us. Unfortunately I didn't actually make it up off the mat just picked up handfuls of stuff and held them up. This meant I ended up with a wet backside and sand all up my shorts legs. So after moving all the gear I headed out till I was waste deep to try and get all the sand out of my shorts.
We'd been there for nearly an hour and a half and I decided that I would have a go so I headed out and took over Patricks board. I attempted to lay on the board while still in the shallows. Struggled to balance and not fall off. Eventually worked out my balance and started to paddle out. (Think I need some more upper arm strength). Used several waves to come back in but had an absolute ball. Tuesday, February 12, 2008

Twenty20 Cricket and Saint Kilda
We went to the Twenty20 Cricket match between Australia and India on Friday February 1 at the MCG. Drove out to Frankston and along the Nepean Highway to St Kilda and booked into the motel. Went for a walk along Fitzroy Road and round the Esplanade. Caught the Bus along Punt Road to the MCG. It took forever as there was so much traffic. We were in a family area at the ground which meant no alcohol so it was really good. We were surrounded by Indian families. Another family from Grantville went with us - one of the sons is Patricks mate from school, one plays cricket with Nick, another is in Nick's class and their younger brother and Mum. It was good to catch up with them after not having seen them much over the holidays.
It was a good match just very short. India were all out for 74 and Australia got those runs in only 10 overs.
Spent Saturday morning down on the beach front. Walked out along the pier and had brunch overlooking the water. It is a great little spot. It seems like you are a long way from the city when you are only about 10 minutes from the CBD. It is nice to be beside the water. There were a lot of people out and about. There were jetskiers, speedboats, sail boats, kids doing sailing lessons, sunbathers, fishermen, walkers, cyclists, joggers. Great spot. We then drove along the coast until it joined up with the Nepean Highway again. Stopped off at a Nursery at Pearcedale on the way home and bought about 20 plants to plant in the front garden.
Got home and there was a message asking if I could go into work and so had a shower and raced in and did a 5 hour shift until 9:15pm.
Started planting out Sunday afternoon. Will do some more this afternoon when it cools off.
